Start Me Up Niagara held a Winter Expo on November 29, 2014 to highlight our small businesses and give our craftspeople a venue to sell their wares. Snapd St Catharines came out and took some great pictures.
Westminster United Church welcomed us and provided the space to share our talents in their lovely hall again demonstrating their commitment to authentic community building. Even Santa and Mrs Claus thought so and paid us a visit which thrilled the children in all of us.
Our SMUN decorating and set-up crew created a warm and inviting mood and helped us get into the spirit of the season. A family friendly tone set the little ones up to leave with crafts and smiles. SMUN’s garden team, Roots Up, shared their efforts with preserved local foods – from farm to fork in the yummiest way. Another sensation this sale was the central café where people gathered to rest, talk, and nourish themselves with our Healthy Kitchen’s soup and sweets.
The vendors ranged from seasoned pros to businesses having their first sale. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out to the public when you are 1st starting and everyone did so with grace, good humour and professionalism. Thanks to the efforts of the promotions team we had a decent flow of visitors and sales were good. SMUN is looking forward to hosting a Spring Sale and we already have some great ideas for our next event.
