We had wonderful turn outs for our May Employment meetings. The group dynamics, sharing, and learning that occurs during our meetings is exciting to witness. Thank you to all who attended.
Thank you also to Judith Brown, OSDP Employment Supports Peer Mentor, who came in to share a bit about her own inspirational journey through disability to employment and let us know about her program. We are hoping to see her at our meeting again soon!
Updates: ODSP – The $100 work related benefit will continue past October! We have notification that although they are still planning to discontinue the benefit, the timeline has been extended. We will keep you updated on this as information arrives.
Self- Employment – We have started our 1st round of classes for our new businesses. These are designed to help the business owner get the information required for them to complete a business plan. We are hoping to offer this series to our new businesses again in January 2016.
Facebook – Our Employment program has Facebook groups to share info and allow a place for peer communication offsite. As an incentive to get people posting we will hold a draw for June. All you have to do to enter is post in the group. Suggestions for 1st posts would be to introduce yourself, or share an inspirational meme.

Next Meeting – June 29th. We are having a BBQ at the SMUN garden out in Vineland. Please meet out front of the Centre (17 Gale Crescent) at 10:30 and bring your appetites. We will provide the ‘hots and hams’, and cake for dessert. We are covered for food but if you would like to bring something to share please let us know at the office so we don’t duplicate efforts. Hope to see you all there!!
